Hardman BrosWith our extensive experience in the industry, Hardman Brothers is uniquely positioned and fully equipped to assist mining companies and supply chain suppliers in maintaining and enhancing their operations, ensuring machinery operates at peak performance, minimising downtime and maximising productivity.

We follow an adaptable method when working with our mining clients that usually falls into these two categories:

  1. Reverse engineering and manufacture of components, including build-to-print; or
  2. Refurbishing of used gearboxes

Mining GearsMining Gears

Partner with Hardman BrothersThe pivotal role gearboxes, gear systems and machined components play in mining operations, especially in the harsh environments of mine sites, cannot be overstated. Partnering with Hardman Brothers ensures meticulous attention to reverse engineering, design-assist, refurbishment and machining, sustaining high productivity and safety standards for your mining projects.

By partnering with Hardman Brothers, mining companies and supply-chain providers can benefit from competitive pricing and flexible supply options without compromising on the component’s performance.

Our reverse engineering experience can even result in an improvement in component manufacture and performance.

Hardman Brothers’ mining equipment repair processes, coupled with our refurbishment capability, ensures that your mining equipment operates as intended, as our approach preserves the integrity and functionality specified in the original equipment design.

Hardman Brothers’ core expertise in reverse engineering and custom machining to OEM standards provides you with the perfect solution for refurbishment of your mining components and assemblies.

Our team design-assists with you in crafting these compatible mining parts to match the exact performance and quality standards of the original components that came with your mining equipment on day one.

Gearboxes are essential for mining applications such as grinding, crushing, screening, and conveyor systems as they efficiently transmit and control power, handle high loads, and absorb shocks.

Whether it’s torque multiplication that’s needed for breaking down hard materials, or maintaining smooth, consistent movement in screening and conveyor systems to safeguard operational flow, Hardman Brothers understands gearbox componentry and its manufacture like few others do.

If your mining gearbox needs components replaced or repaired, or a complete refurbishment of a used gearbox, our team can commence the reverse engineering process no matter where you are located nationally. Once the gearbox subassembly or its components are received by us, we’ll get to work with our metrology lab to identify the material and hardening process required.

To round it out, we also undertake a failure analysis to prevent similar breakdowns once the replacement components or refurbished gearboxes are redeployed.

As we’ve outlined, gearboxes are commonly used in crushers, grinders, screeners and conveyors, but it’s gear systems that serve an equally crucial but different purpose.

Gear systems, subassemblies and engineered components are a broader category that includes individual gears, gear trains and mechanisms for lubrication systems.

As with gearbox components, we can reverse engineer and help design-assist with a gear system currently in use that isn’t working at its optimum.

It’s second-nature for Hardman Brothers to recommend ‘x-solution’ instead of ‘y-solution’ if we know it’s a better fit for your application, and we do this by having intricate knowledge of gear systems, subassemblies and engineered components and how they relate to the mining sector.

Is your current OEM contractual relationship falling short of expectations?

Do you need replacement mining components yesterday?

And your current OEM supplier can’t deliver in less than six months, having tried to do it locally but can’t find the availability or capability?

This is where Hardman Brothers can step in to help you out.

Which is exactly what we were asked to do for a Queensland mining services company as an OEM partner.

Slurry pumps play a pivotal role by transporting abrasive and corrosive slurries, so these pumps need to be designed to handle the harsh conditions of mining operations – its efficiency and durability directly impacts mining productivity and profitability. Handling high pressures and volumes is the norm for mining applications, so for our Queensland mining client we had to pay particular attention to the valves, valve seats and impellers in particular.

The valves were reverse engineered and machined to withstand the abrasive nature of slurry, providing a reliable seal to minimise leakage.

Machining of valve seats is right in our wheelhouse, and we understand their primary function of maintaining a tight seal to prevent leaks faces no bigger test than mining environments.

Our reverse engineering and design-assist of these valve seats informed a manufacture that must endure continuous exposure to abrasive slurries.

And at the heart of the slurry pump is the impeller, moving the slurry through the pump system. Already machining impellers for the Energy sector, we were across the need for a robust design-assist and machining process, which we incorporated to provide resistance to abrasion from the direct contact with the slurry.

The design-assist and chosen materials were paramount to the pump project overall, resulting in a completed slurry pump blueprint that our client was totally satisfied with, not only for this project, but other client work.

Machined components are the backbone of drilling and exploration projects in the mining industry. Advanced drilling techniques reaching deposits deep below the earth’s surface rely on these parts for maintaining the integrity and performance of drilling equipment under brutal conditions.

Hardman Brothers are all set to machine your components with its factory setup of ‘build-to-print’ capabilities and are manufactured to exacting specifications to simplify integration into your drilling equipment, reducing wear and tear and extending your equipment’s lifespan.

Drilling and exploration involves extreme pressures, temperatures and harsh environments, and Hardman Brothers understands that the quality of materials used and machining processes deployed must be rigorous enough for these components to withstand these unsparing conditions.
